Princess Bride UI
One of my first assignments when I joined Zynga, was to help conceptualize and establish the visual UI for a brand new IP, The Princess Bride Slots. The game was going to be based on the popular movie, Princess Bride and would be heavily themed as such. My objective was to provide as much direction as possible in the 4 weeks I was given to help out, which was very stressful but an amazing experience since I got to do a great deal of concept sketching and painting.
Slot Machine Pedestals
Pedestals are one of the larger UI elements that the game uses to represent a Slot Machine in the main Lobby. Concepts were based on the reading and telling of the Princess Bride story from the book itself so naturally, I started off with several opened books with the story coming to life from the pages.
Lobby Bottom Bar and Dialogs
Some of the initial directions were to try and make the UI look jewel-like with a good deal of gold accents. Keeping in mind that women players were our target audience, I used a lot of flourishes and elegant designs to push the "Princess" look while keeping close to the storyline.
Jackpot Win Screens and animation
I was also asked to help create the 3 Jackpot Win screens which was a complete surprise to me. This was not something that was originally on the list for me to take on but I loved how fun this was. Recreating the Princess Bride font with our 3 jackpot types was the biggest challenge... especially the largest "Inconceivable Win!"
